Schaeffler Special Machinery at Formnext 2024

After the initial presentation of our new system for industrial additive manufacturing at Rapid Tech in May, our solution will now be showcased for the second time at Formnext 2024. Together with Schaeffler Aerosint (soon to be fully united under the Schaeffler Special Machinery brand), visitors will be able to experience our systems live.

Launch of the Beta Program between Schaeffler Special Machinery and Amnovis in Additive Manufacturing!

We are thrilled to announce the launch of a groundbreaking Beta Program in partnership with Amnovis, focusing on innovative advancements in additive manufacturing and 3D multi-material printing!

The launch of this Beta Program was officially sealed by Ruben Wauthle (CEO & Co-Founder Amnovis) and Florian Doerrfuss (Product Manager Schaeffler Special Machinery) during the Formnext - Where ideas take shape. It will allow us to test and refine cutting-edge 3D printing techniques that incorporate multiple materials, enabling us to create products that meet the diverse and evolving needs of our customers

This collaboration represents a powerful alliance between two leaders in the industry, combining Amnovis’s expertise in advanced manufacturing technologies with Schaeffler's long-standing reputation for engineering excellence. Together, we aim to push the boundaries of what is possible in manufacturing by developing revolutionary solutions that enhance performance, efficiency, and design flexibility.

Unlock unlimited possibilities in design, functional integration and material combinations.

In many areas, additive manufacturing has already established itself as an alternative to the conventional production of workpieces. Multi-material 3D printing opens up almost unlimited possibilities.

OmniFusion 3D system

OmniFusion 3D system

The OmniFusion 3D is the first industrial application for metallic multi material additive manufacturing. The „printing“ process involves the deposition of material on the print bed in layers. Our innovative technology enables the use of up to three different materials, which are supplied by integrated powder reservoirs into the recoater. There, the material powders are arranged pixel-wise on the build platform and deposited layer by layer. During the scanning step, the part is created. Multiple laser sources and scanners can be used to process a wide range of materials efficiently, like metals or ceramics. The printing process itself takes place in a sealed process chamber, filled with argon inert gas.

Benefits ot the system:

  • unique material combinations
  • innovative functional integration in products & tools
  • flexibility in form for individual, free design of products & tools
  • fast response to changing market requirements and designs
  • reduced lead time, especially for tools & prototypes

Die Filling Platform

The Aerosint Die Filling Plattform up to 3 powders to be precisely stacked in a mould with an internal diameter of up to 100mm / 4 inches. The powder placement is determined from a digital design defined by the user.

Once this file is uploaded to the machine's control software, the mould is automatically filled layer by layer. The powder-filled die can then be sintered using conventional or pressure-assisted sintering methods.

This binder-free technique allows the combination of multiple materials into a multi-material blank or near net shape. This equipment can be used with metal powders, ceramic powders and combinations thereof.
