The Schaeffler Aerosint Recoater is a patented technology and the heart of our OmniFusion 3D and the Die Filling Platform. The Recoater is a system for depositing different materials on the powder bed and thus plays a central role in 3D printing technology for multi-materials. Layer by layer, innovative product designs are created in optimal material combinations.
Combination of different materials for individual designs
The Recoater's integrated powder reservoirs enable the various materials to be applied to the powder bed quickly and precisely. Powder can be successively deposited in any spatial direction of the installation space, thus creating a three-dimensional prototype. This opens up completely new possibilities and the opportunity to realize individual designs, applications and specific material properties in industrial quality.

The technological basis for the precise deposition of the various material powders on the powder bed is based on the combination of mechanical movement and air flow. By moving the entire Recoater with the individual drums over the powder bed, it can be reached completely with each individual material. The drums of the Recoater are equipped with a type of mesh fabric on the running surface. A pneumatic suction causes the powders to adhere to the drum surface in thin layers and are released from the drum mesh by short, targeted blasts of air and deposited on the powder bed. In this way, the Schaeffler Aerosint Recoater achieves uniform powder distribution and a reduction in material usage through the efficient use of the metals or ceramics used.
